Zig Zag Young Women’s Resource Centre Inc are now recruiting for a 9-month Locum position of Sexual Assault Counselling and Support Worker – Brisbane North/ Camp Hill (Locum) within our Sexual Assault Program commencing January 2024. This fixed term contract position is for 32 hours (4 days) / week and is paid at a SCHCaDS Award Level 5. Zig Zag offers above Award employment conditions and salary sacrifice is available.

The Brisbane North Sexual Assault Response Service has been established as a formal partnership between the Brisbane Rape and Incest Survivors Support Centre (BRISSC) and Zig Zag. The Sexual Assault Counselling and Support Worker – Brisbane North / Camp Hill (Locum) position will work collaboratively to deliver high-quality, responsive sexual assault counselling and support services to young women survivors of sexual violence who are residing in the Brisbane North region.  This work includes flexible service delivery and outreach support through some mobile outreach services.

This position also has responsibility for the development and facilitation of therapeutic sexual assault support groups, community education, and early intervention and prevention activities to respond to sexual violence within the Brisbane North region, in collaboration with local networks and partnerships. This position will be based at Zig Zag’s Nundah service site for up to three days per week and at our Camp Hill service site for one day per week.

Applicants must have:

  • Bachelor degree qualification in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology, Behavioural Science, or other relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience of working therapeutically with women or young people who are survivors of trauma.
  • A clearly defined practice framework that incorporates intersectional feminist and social justice perspectives.
  • Current ‘C’ class driver’s license.
  • Possession of a current Working with Children Blue Card.
