Zig Zag Young Women’s Resource Centre Inc are now recruiting for a fixed term contract position of Intake Support Worker (Relief) within our Intake Team for up to a 5-month period with contract dates to be negotiated.

This fixed term contract position is part-time (48 hours per fortnight) and paid at a SCHCaDS Award Level 5. Zig Zag offers generous above Award employment conditions and salary sacrifice is available. 

Zig Zag are seeking a highly skilled worker with experience in the provision of support to young women aged 12 – 25 years who have experienced sexual violence and/or are experiencing homelessness or housing instability, including young parenting women and young families.  The key responsibilities include initial intake and youth focused safety and support needs assessment, specialist information provision and warm referrals, brief practical and planned support and advocacy, and outreach contact where appropriate.

The Intake Support Worker is also responsible for providing brief practical and planned support, using collaborative approaches to improve outcomes and support available to young women who have experienced sexual violence, and/or are experiencing homelessness or at high risk of entering homelessness, and support young women and young families to gain and/or sustain housing tenancies in either social, community, or private rental housing settings.

Applicants must have:

  • Bachelor degree qualification in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology, Behavioural Science, or other relevant discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the provision of case management support, and/or therapeutic counselling and support to women or young people affected by sexual violence, domestic and family violence, and/or homelessness.
  • Current ‘C’ class driver’s license.
  • Possession of a current Working with Children Blue Card.
  • A clearly defined practice framework that incorporates intersectional feminist and social justice perspectives.
