SEXUAL ASSAULT COUNSELLING AND SUPPORT WORKER (Relief) – Full Time, Fixed Term Position

Zig Zag Young Women’s Resource Centre Inc are now recruiting for a 6 month fixed term, full time position of Sexual Assault Counselling and Support Worker (Relief) within our Sexual Assault Program. The fixed term contract position is full time for 40 hours per week and is paid at a QCSCA Level 5. Zig Zag offers above Award employment conditions and salary sacrifice is available. This position is expected to commence as early as possible in August 2021 to the 4 February 2022.

The Sexual Assault Counselling and Support Worker (Relief) position will work collaboratively to deliver high-quality, responsive sexual assault counselling and support services to young women survivors of sexual violence who are residing in the Wider Brisbane, Brisbane North, and Brisbane Southwest regions.  This position will ensure flexible service delivery and will include intake and early intervention support; counselling, advocacy, and assertive follow up support and referral; outreach assistance through some mobile outreach services; and some therapeutic group work. This position may also support the development and facilitation of community education, and early intervention and prevention activities to address issues relating to sexual violence within the Wider Brisbane region.

The Sexual Assault Counselling and Support Worker (Relief) position will be based at Zig Zag’s Camp Hill service site, with some work undertaken at our Brisbane North (Nundah), and Brisbane Southwest (Richlands) service sites as needed.

Zig Zag employs women only (EEO exempt). Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a Bachelor degree qualification in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology, Behavioural Science, or other relevant discipline, a minimum of two years’ experience of working therapeutically with women or young people who are survivors of trauma, and a clearly defined practice framework that incorporates intersectional feminist and social justice perspectives.  Remuneration is QCSCA Award Level 5 with above award conditions.
